Biography

Rosa M. Valentín is an accomplished educational leader with more than 35 years of experience in public education, including 31 years of dedicated service to Springfield Public Schools. Born in Puerto Rico and a Springfield resident for over three decades, she has built a distinguished career focused on instructional leadership, multilingual learner advocacy, and equitable access to high-quality education.

Rosa’s professional experience spans classroom teaching and progressive leadership roles, including instructional coach, instructional leadership specialist, vice principal, district supervisor, and Director of Multilingual Learner (ML) Programs. Her extensive school-based background provides a strong foundation for informed, student-centered decision-making and deep insight into the instructional and operational needs of Springfield’s diverse learning community.

Throughout her tenure, Rosa has led major district initiatives to strengthen compliance with state and federal regulations, expand ESL and dual-language programming, improve ACCESS testing systems and outcomes, enhance family engagement, and build comprehensive professional development structures for educators. She is recognized for her collaborative leadership style, strategic planning skills, and commitment to advancing equity for multilingual learners, immigrant families, and historically underserved communities.

In 2025, Rosa was elected to the Springfield School Committee, earning voters’ confidence in her first campaign for public office. Her election reflects decades of service, integrity, and a steadfast belief in the transformative power of public education.

Rosa is also the proud mother of two daughters who graduated from Springfield Public Schools, reinforcing her personal and professional dedication to the district. She continues to serve the Springfield community with experience, institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to students and families.
