Valerie serves as the Chief of Human Resources for Springfield Public Schools, where she manages the Human Resources and Safety and Security Departments. In this role, she maintains safety and security, talent management, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, pipeline programs, conflict management, labor relations, and retention programs.

With 28 years of experience in Education and Human Resources, Williams brings a deep commitment to a positive work culture where students and staff can thrive. As the Chief of Human Resources, Williams has incorporated several programs and initiatives that invest in a district’s greatest asset, people. Williams says, “When people are heard, understood, valued, and respected, it encourages and motivates them to reach new potentials.” Williams has been a lecturer on topics such as effective recruitment, preparing for interviews, increasing grow your own pipeline programs, using data to drive instruction, using data to build a cohesive and meaningful work environment, and putting structures in place to increase work performance.

Williams received her bachelor’s degree from Fisk University and her master’s degree from the University of New Haven. She earned a certificate of advanced graduate studies from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
