Jose Escribano was born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he attended Springfield Public Schools. He earned his degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he emerged as a student leader, serving as a Student Government Senator, founding the campus’s first Latino fraternity chapter, and leading multiple student organizations.

After college, Jose began his career as a Social Worker with the Department of Children and Families. Starting as an ongoing worker and later transitioning to the adoption unit, he found great fulfillment in helping children find their forever homes.

Driven by a desire to make a greater impact in education, Jose earned his master’s degree in School Adjustment Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. Over the years, he has served as a school adjustment counselor, assistant principal, principal, Chief of Family and Community Engagement, and now as the Assistant Superintendent of Community Engagement, Family Empowerment, and Partnerships for Springfield Public Schools. In these roles, Jose has been deeply committed to working with youth in urban communities. His leadership was instrumental in the turnaround and improvement of three district schools.

Currently in the final year of his EdD in Educational Leadership, Jose remains focused on leading in urban districts. In his present role, he works to bridge the gap between schools, families, and the wider community, building strong partnerships, connecting residents to vital resources, and launching initiatives that strengthen opportunities for all students. Dedicated and resourceful, Jose continues to seek out people and programs that make Springfield a stronger, more supportive place for its students and families.
