Jamie Pirog, an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at Springfield Renaissance School, is loved by her students and has been a huge proponent of using technology in the classroom.

As an avid user of the digital learning environment "Brightspace," she builds out her courses online and uses the tools available to help all of her students learn. For example, Jamie often uses the Assignment folder function to allow her students to upload their work and receive quick feedback on their assignments, while also allowing for a quicker way to grade student work.

To help in communicating with families, Jamie uses ClassDojo as a collaboration and communication tool. Jamie is able to showcase student work, post homework assignments online, and talk with parents, all with the goal of maintaining the lines of communication between school and home.

Jamie, who has been teaching for 13 years, is really excited about our district’s new learning management system, Unified Classroom. With her philosophy of “work smarter, not harder,” Jamie believes this new system is going to be a game changer for her students and for teachers alike. Especially exciting for Jamie is the new built-in gradebook, PowerTeacherPro, which will allow teachers to grade an assignment and have the grade automatically upload to the gradebook, saving time and promoting efficiency.
