As part of its annual community service project, the Roger L. Putnam Vocation Technical Academy's SEBS Program chose to help Second Chance Animal Services, located in Springfield. This non-profit organization is known for its low, even no-cost services for the community and the animals they serve.
Hosting a “Penny War,” the school collected over $600 to donate towards the animal shelter and a Putnam staff member, who chose to remain anonymous, generously matched the students' collection for a grand total of over $1,200 donated by Putnam towards Second Chance.
The school community also donated blankets, food, cleaning supplies and handmade beds, among other items.
