Springfield Promise Fellows

American International College and the Springfield Public Schools have partnered to develop our next generation of leaders by offering Promise Fellow Scholarships to exceptional educators.

We believe that by investing in the district’s greatest commodity, its highly qualified and talented educators, we can create a pipeline of strong dedicated agents of change.  The Promise Fellow program will allow recipients to:

  • Earn their license as a principal/assistant principal,
  • Become a more reflective leader, listener and observer,
  • Use data to identify priorities and lead through change,
  • Develop and share a detailed vision for leadership that builds a high-expectation culture and maximizes student achievement,
  • Supervise and monitor a rigorous standards-based curriculum, assessment and instruction system,
  • Prioritize the instructional focus when observing classroom instruction,
  • Provide students and staff with opportunities to learn and lead,
  • Share decision making.

 Springfield Promise Fellows Program Overview:

  • Completion of program and requisite ESE MA-PALs leads to Administrator Licensure*
    • –PAL preparation and support
  • Cost: Free (opportunity to earn 24 credits towards a Masters, CAGS or Doctorate at a reduced rate)
  • Four credit bearing courses aligned to the PAL tasks
    • –19 seminars during the school year
    • –5 full days in June at the end of the 2019 school year
  • On-line collaboration with colleagues
  • Internship supervised by trained Mentor Principal
  • One-to-one coaching by experienced principals and administrators
  • Supervised field immersion experiences

 Commitment to Springfield:

  • This program requires a three-year commitment to Springfield Public Schools.
  • Each participant will have opportunities to apply for open administrative positions over the course of the commitment.
  • Participants who do not meet the three-year commitment will be liable for a pro-rated share of the tuition.
